Screen Time | Guidelines

Screen time for kids is a hot topic for many parents and experts. The Canadian Paediatric Society recommends the following guidelines for screen time:

For children younger than 2 years, avoid the use of screen media other than video-chatting with family and friends.

For children ages 2 to 5 years, limit screen time to 1 hour per day of high-quality programming. Watch it with your child and help them understand what they're seeing.

For children ages 6 years and older, place consistent limits on the time spent using media and the types of media they are accessing. Make sure screen time is not interfering with sleep, social interactions and physical activity.

It's important to remember that not all screen time is equal. As a parent, it is your role to monitor your child’s screen time and make sure it's balanced with other activities, such as outdoor play, reading, and socializing with friends and family.
